Impaired Driver Incident

A shocking incident unfolded on November 6, 2023, as a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputy was struck by an alleged impaired driver while providing traffic control services. Despite sustaining non-life-threatening injuries, the deputy’s ordeal did not end there. The (allegedly) impaired driver, a 24-year-old, was named in yet another press release and now faces charges of Driving Under the Influence with Property Damage and Personal Injury.

Sheriff’s Statement

Sheriff Chad Chronister emphasized that driving under the influence is unacceptable and endangers lives, pledging to take action against such behavior.

Summer Operation: ‘Operation Summer’s End’

During Labor Day weekend, HCSO initiated “Operation Summer’s End” in collaboration with the Tampa Police Department, University of South Florida Police, and the Florida Highway Patrol. A total of 77 DUI arrests were made, along with 885 traffic stops, 131 citations issued, and 706 warnings.

Police Targeting Street Racing Operation: “Trick No Treats”

In “Trick No Treats,” HCSO, partnering with the Tampa Police Department, targeted illegal street takeovers and dangerous racing meets. The operation led to multiple arrests, including charges of DUI, felony fleeing to elude, and child endangerment. Four impounded vehicles were held for 30 days, and a loaded ghost handgun was discovered during one arrest.

Sheriff’s Office Takes Action

The Sheriff’s Office in Tampa Bay, Florida, recently took a bold stance against illegal street takeovers and dangerous racing meets that have been plaguing the community. These reckless events not only endanger the participants but also pose significant risks to innocent bystanders. In response to this pressing issue, law enforcement authorities, in collaboration with the Tampa Police Department, initiated an operation to crack down on these dangerous activities.

Operation “Trick No Treats”

This operation, named “Trick No Treats,” resulted in multiple arrests, with charges ranging from DUI to felony fleeing and child endangerment. To further emphasize the severity of such menacing behavior, Sheriff Chad Chronister issued a statement, making it clear that these activities will not be tolerated in their jurisdiction.
